Pentatonic Modes (July 2013)

Guitar modes has a method to analyse and apply Pentatonic modes.

Pentatonic modes are derived from modes of the Major scale.
Remember guitar modes teaches how to play across the fret board. All scales, all modes.

Major scale modes used to create Pentatonic modes in a minor key are:

Dorian, Phrygian and Aeolian.

The 3 Seven note major modes are each reduced to 5 notes.

The outcomes form a familiar pattern that is the same shape as the minor Pentatonic scale,

The location of these patterns is directly related to the position of minor modes from the major scale.

The lesson page shows you how to play and use this concept across the fret board.
